SANTA CRUZ — The logjam of contenders for the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League girls volleyball title is beginning to thin. Marginally though.
Harbor High remained the three-way tie at the top of the standings by dispatching dangerous and upset-minded Aptos 18-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-20 ion Wednesday.
The Pirates (17-3, 5-1) share the lead league with Soquel and Santa Cruz.
“I think the win is definitely a big step forward,” said outside hitter Isla Johnson, who led Harbor with eight kills, seven digs and five aces. “Aptos is one of the most challenging schools. The season’s going pretty well and we can show a lot more.”
The match was initially slated for Tuesday but it was pushed back a day since it conflicted with the end of Rosh Hashanah.
Holly Rejfir made eight kills for the Pirates, Sabina Kemos had seven kills, and Maren O’Farrell had six kills, nine digs and four aces. For full article, click here.
