Omega Nu of Santa Cruz awarded college scholarships to 27 students from Santa Cruz County schools during a scholarship reception at Harvey West Park Clubhouse on May 28.
The scholarships benefit high school seniors who will attend public California universities or colleges and are based on both financial need and scholastic achievement. This year $83,000 was awarded to both new and renewal scholarships.
The 27 scholarships were awarded to Abigail Carmona, Mia Chaney, Emely Choto-Cruz, Melina Marin, Carolina Ogden-Tinoco, Nicolas Vinuela-Yodar of Aptos High School; Phoenyx Nist-Ferrare of Cypress Charter School; Maggie Davis, Maribel Ocaranza, Maelin Ramones, Melissa Sosa of Harbor High School; Natalia DuVernois, Ruby Sartain Miller of San Lorenzo Valley School; Gabriella Bates, Carlin Cook, Ruby Johnston, Christopher Ramirez, Emilie Stevens, Sophie Wynn of Santa Cruz High School; Ryan Bariteau, Mitchell Boe, Shaemus Cullen, Henry Danner, Chase Kelsen and Jack Ponza of Scotts Valley High School; Xiomara Gaona and Lorena Nunes of Soquel High School.

In addition, 21 renewal scholarships were also awarded for this upcoming academic year.

Omega Nu of Santa Cruz is a volunteer group of more than 40 women that hosts annual fundraisers to benefit the community with donations to scholarships, charities and public elementary and middle schools.
