Scholarship opportunities will be added throughout the school year as the applications open. Seniors have access to these scholarships in the HHS Grade 12 Google Classroom. If you have any questions, please email [email protected] or drop by the Counseling Office.

The Gates Scholarship

If you’re interested in the Gates Scholarship, reach out to your counselor for a referral!

Eligibility Requirements:

  • From at least one of the following four minority communities:  African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American 

  • Pell-eligible

  • A US citizen, national, or permanent resident

  • Maintaining a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Current high school (or home-schooled) student attending a school in the U.S. (or select DoD schools) who will graduate during the 2022-20232 academic school year

  • U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, U.S. Permanent Residents, Refugees, Asylees, Cuban-Haitian Entrants, or Humanitarian Parolees - based on the guidelines utilized by U.S. Department of Education for Federal Financial Aid eligibility

  • Expecting to receive high school diploma during current academic year

  • Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution

  • Able to verify a minimum overall B/3.0 GPA in high school coursework

The Good Tidings Foundation Community Service Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • High school senior graduating in Spring 2023 

  • Winners must volunteer a minimum of 1 shift (~2-4 hours) for our Good Tidings' Winter Wonderland Toy Giveaway Program between 12/10 - 12/19/22 in Burlingame, CA

  • Must plan on attending college, vocational, or continuing education

Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarships

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Current high school seniors, or the equivalent, are eligible to apply.

  • Applicants do not need to be related to a member of the Elks.

  • Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are submitted; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.

  • Scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university.

The Cooke College Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Plan to graduate from a U.S. high school in spring 2023.

  • Intend to enroll in an accredited four-year college beginning in fall 2023.

  •  Earn a minimum, cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above.

  •  We will consider applicants with a maximum annual gross income of $95,000. Last year’s cohort of new  College Scholarship recipients had a median family income of approximately $34,000.  During the selection process, the Foundation will conduct a full financial review which will take into account all income and assets of the student and the student’s parents.

$2,000 Nitro Scholarship

  • Most of you can apply for this scholarship - it's a simple one, only 5 questions! All you need is a 2.5 GPA or Above!

Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarships

Have you volunteered at a local food bank or soup kitchen??? If so, this scholarship is for you. Each award recipient will receive a $7,500 scholarship, as well as a $5,000 grant made out to the hunger-related charity of your choice!

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must have performed unpaid volunteer services impacting hunger in the US within the last 12 months

  • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States

The Science Ambassador Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:

  • A full-tuition scholarship for women in science, technology, engineering, or math. No other eligibility requirements.

The Power of Resilience Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must show good academic standing with a GPA of at least 3.0.

The “No Sweat” Scholarship

Union Plus Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Current and retired members of unions participating in any Union Plus program, their spouses and their dependent children (as defined by IRS regulations) are eligible. Grandchildren are not eligible unless a legal dependent (as defined by IRS regulations).  At least one year of continuous union membership by the applicant, applicant's spouse or parent (if applicant is a dependent). The one year membership minimum must be satisfied by May 31, 2023.

Career Exploration Scholarship

  • $1,000 scholarships available to all Santa Cruz County students! You are all eligible to apply!

  • Complete the application through the SurveyMonkey link on the attached flyer. You will need to include an essay response (no longer than 1,000 words), a 1-minute long video testimonial, and a letter of recommendation from a  teacher, counselor, or school administrator.

CTE Scholarships

  • $500 scholarships available to all Santa Cruz County students currently enrolled in a CTE course!

  • You are able to apply through the SurveyMonkey on the attached flyer. You will need to submit a short essay response (500 words or less) and a video (3 minutes and 30 seconds or less) answering the questions provided.

CA Teachers Association Martin Luther King Jr Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Pursuing a degree, credential or certification for a teaching-related career in public education in an accredited institution of higher education

  • A member of a defined BIPOC group: (African American/Black, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander or Hispanic)

The applicant must also be one of the following:

  • An active member of CTA

  • A dependent child of an active, CTA/NEA-Retired or deceased CTA member (per IRS ruling)

  • An active member of Student CTA (SCTA) To receive the scholarship, the active SCTA member must reside in California and maintain membership at the time of disbursement.

The Sons and Daughters of Italy Scholarship

Are you wholly or partially of Italian descent?! Are you planning on attending a Trade School, Community College, or 4-Year University next year?! If you answered yes to both questions, you could qualify for the following two scholarships: 

  • Academic Award

  • Athletic Award for students pursuing a career in sports or a sports related field

California Association of Winegrape Growers Foundation Scholarships

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Be graduating from high school
    and plan to attend a UC, CSU or California community college in
    the fall of 2023

  • Have a parent or legal guardian who
    is/was an employee of a Winegrape
    grower during the 2022 or 2023 season

Scouting for Jewish Youth Scholarships

The National Jewish Committee on Scouting will award scholarships to Eagle Scouts who best meet these qualifications. To be eligible you must:

  • Be a registered, active member of a Boy Scout troop, Varsity Scout team, or Venturing crew.

  • Have received the Eagle Scout Award.

  • Be an active member of a synagogue and possess the Ner Tamid or Etz Chaim religious emblem.

Scholarships awarded each year are:

  • Recipients receive a $1,000 scholarship per year for four years. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

  •  The recipient will receive a one-time $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

  •  There will be a $3,000 scholarship and a $2,000 scholarship.

The Weston Scholarship

For all you film and digital artists!

The Weston Scholarship is a portfolio competition for students in Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties.

  • Students must be enrolled in a Monterey or Santa Cruz County high school, college, or university when they apply for a Weston Scholarship.

  • Students who are in a film photography class in the Fall Semester prior to the competition can apply with images taken during the Fall or Spring Semester.

  • Film and Digital Portfolios Accepted

  • Your portfolio must consist of only one medium. For example: a portfolio of all digital images or a portfolio of all film images

  • A student must only submit one portfolio

  • Only students who submit tangible portfolios will be eligible for hanging in The 2023 Weston Scholarship Exhibition at The Monterey Museum of Art

  • In-person portfolio submissions will receive higher valued scholarships

  • Applicants who have been awarded first place in a past Weston Scholarship competition are not eligible to win the same award again in subsequent years; however, they are eligible for all other award categories.

  • If you are younger than 18 years of age , you have a parent or legal guardian’s permission to participate in the Weston Scholarship Competition.

  • Available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post secondary institution

AmericanMuscle Automotive Scholarships

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Scholarships are restricted to those students pursuing an automotive degree or related field of study.

  • Only students currently enrolled full-time in an American college, Canadian colleges, Automotive Engineering programs, Trade schools, technical institute, or high school seniors planning to attend a college or post-secondary institution are eligible to be awarded a scholarship through this program.

  • AmericanMuscle Student Scholarships are non-renewable, however, winning applicants may re-enter in future contests by writing and resubmitting a new essay. Only one essay per student, per semester is allowed.

BigSun Scholarship

  • All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in or the capacity in which they participate

  • Pacific University's Senior Preview Scholarship Day provides high school seniors and their guests an opportunity to interact with the Pacific University campus and community. This is a great way to see if we're a good fit for you!

  • If you participate and decide to attend Pacific University Oregon, you will receive a $1,000 scholarship per year, totaling $4,000! There are a few virtual sessions offered if you are not planning on going up to Oregon within the next few months (:
