March 9, 2023: Three of five matches were decided by a third set, as Harbor High’s girls beach volleyball team beat visiting Scotts Valley 4-1 in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play Wednesday.
Harbor’s Zoe Kemos and Sabine Kemos beat Natalia Cash and Macy Millian, 18-21, 21-10, 15-3, in the No. 2 match, and the Pirates’ Callahan Stone and Holly Rejfir beat Bella Alvarez and Qynn Meulman, 14-21, 21-13, 15-8, at No. 5.
Scotts Valley’s lone win came in match No. 3, where Makayla McDonnell and Hayden Smith beat Holly Pendergraft and Sandy Enriquez, 19-21, 21-19, 15-8.
Harbor also received wins from Isla Johnson and Maren O’Farrell over Morgan Lipman and Grace Emanuelson, 21-13, 21-14, at No. 1, and Tara Biakanja and Dakotah Johnson over Emma Howell and Sydney Barnes, 21-18, 21-12, and No. 4.
