On May 24th 2017, Radius Gallery hosted their second Open Show Santa Cruz. Open Show organizes live social events worldwide where the public can experience compelling visual stories and interact directly with photographers, filmmakers and multimedia producers. Santa Cruz Sentinel’s Shmuel Thaler, who was named Artist of the Year, MCed event. Only five photographers were chosen by a team of show curators. Harbor High School Junior and ROP Photography student, Emma Schrank was one of the five selected artists to present her series, “The Teenage Aperture of Emotions."

Emma's series and her presentation were exceptional. Her work is a perfect example of how what we do in the classroom prepares our students for the outside world. The ROP Digital Photography students at Harbor High mirror this presentation style in our critiques at the end of every unit, so Emma was well practiced in the art of presenting her work. It was an absolutely inspiring exhibit. She was the only teenager presenting, but she held the room like a pro. Youtube Link: https://youtu.be/fiapMlqs6zY
